Moral revival summit in Marawi on July2-3

MARAWI CITY—The Ulama League of the Philippine (ULP) with the support of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur under the stewardship of Governor Mamintal ‘Bombit’ Adiong Jr., and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) will hold a Workshop and Summit on Moral Revival on July 2 to 3 at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in Marawi City.

Described as the learned men of Islam, Ulama are looked up to by Muslim communities in terms of spiritual guidance and moral directions.

According to ULP President Judge Aboali J. Cali, the two-day summit will focus on reviving the Islamic morals in governance, education, and economics.

He said it is vital to inculcate religious morals in governance, education and economics.

“Let us not estrange religious morals in our everyday work in governance. Education must not only be encouraged to attain social prestige, but more importantly an obligation in service to humanity,” he said.

Cali further said, “Let us not feather our own nest with comforts and luxuries without our concern to the welfare of our fellowmen and society.”

Provincial Information Officer Nasser M. Ganda, Sr. meanwhile revealed that they are expecting about 852 participants to gather during the two-day summit.

Participants will be coming from the different national line agencies, local government officials, Lanao del Sur members to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Legislative Assembly, Integrated Shariah Bar of the Philippines, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, members of the academe, traditional leaders, Arabic institutions, civic and religious groups as well as non-government organizations.

He also disclosed that Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and OPAPP Secretary Avelino Razon, Jr. will be gracing the big event.

Further, Ambassadors of foreign governments such as Libya and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will also grace the occasion. (Apipa P. Bagumbaran)
